Specified by UK architects Softroom, Armourcoat’s Acoustic Seamless Plaster system plays a key role in the visionary design of the new $12 billion Istanbul Airport in Turkey. Set for completion in 2028, the airport will accommodate 200 million passengers annually, securing its place as the world’s largest.

Softroom’s striking interior concept for the Turkish Airlines lounges emerged as the winning entry in an international design competition. Tasked with creating 19,000m² of lounge space that embodies the national carrier’s new ‘flow’ brand philosophy, the design seamlessly connects each area, enhancing the passenger experience. To refine acoustics and elevate the aesthetic, Armourcoat’s Acoustic Plaster system delivers a flawless ceiling finish with a Class ‘A’ Noise Reduction Coefficient rating. Its clean, smooth mineral surface integrates effortlessly with the sophisticated interior, complementing the fluid architectural vision.

Aesthetics and performance

Further enhancing the passenger experience, Armourcoat’s Acoustic Seamless Plaster system has been installed as striking island panels within the expansive 55,000m² duty-free zone, operated by Unifree Duty Free in collaboration with Gebr Heinemann. Inspired by the flowing waters of the Bosphorus Strait, the space is thoughtfully divided into seven distinct sections, each showcasing prestigious brands such as Emporio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Bulgari.

Engineered for optimal acoustic performance, the Armourcoat Acoustic Seamless Plaster system comprises a specialist mineral wool composite panel bonded to the substrate and seamlessly finished with a refined marble-based plaster. This innovative design allows sound energy to pass through the surface, enhancing interior acoustics while delivering an elegant, uninterrupted aesthetic. Composed of 80% recycled materials and entirely VOC-free, the system also meets a Class ‘0’ fire rating. Recognised for its excellence in sound management, it proudly holds the Quiet Mark—an esteemed certification from the Noise Abatement Society Charitable Foundation.
